Black and Historic: Netflix Series “Da Jammies”

OUR BLACK HISTORY..….DID YOU KNOW?

“DA JAMMIES” CARTOON IS NETFLIX’S FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN ORIGINAL ANIMATED MUSIC SERIES FOR KIDS

“Da Jammies” is the first African-American original animated 3D music series on Netflix created by 2 Black men, Aulsondro “Novelist” Hamilton (known today in hip hop gospel as Emcee N.I.C.E.) and his business partner William “Dolla” Chapman II. Taking the stage name “Novelist,” he’d been writing short stories since childhood which dovetailed into rap rhymes. Da Jammies is about 5 kids from the suburbs who sing dance and rap with aspirations of becoming the next R&B/Hip-Hop stars all while they attend a performing arts school dealing with the issues that plague today’s youth. Episode themes range from bullying, homelessness, obesity, self-awareness and much more. The music reminds you of something Jay Z or 50 cent would do, but with kid centered content. Emcee N.I.C.E. is the star character and voice of Novelist in the popular cartoon. “Da Jammies” is on Netflix and also on Kid Genius TV|Comcast|Xfinity|Amazon Prime| Roku and AppleTV.

The other voice-overs in the cartoon are D.B.I. who plays “Dolla”, Alisa Reyes who plays “Momo”, Dani Nicolet who voices “LaLa’ and Anderson Johnson Jr. voices Seven. Notable African-American actors also on the show are Darius McCrary, James Avery, Kel Mitchell, Kurtis Blow, Yolanda “YoYo” Whitaker, Tiffany Haddish, Dorien Wilson, Kim Whitley, Shane Tsurugi, Tiny Lister, May May Ali, Lil JJ, Al B. Sure & Rodney Perry.

Emcee N.I.C.E.’s passion for animation was inherited through his family bloodline. Ron Husband is the uncle to Emcee N.I.C.E.

THE TITLE OF FIRST BLACK ANIMATOR AT DISNEY TRULY BELONGS TO RON HUSBAND

Read the story on Ron Husband and of all the movies and shows he has worked on……

As a kid Emcee N.I.C.E. used to go over to Ron’s house to play with his cousins while his uncle was working on animations for The Lion King, The Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, which sparked his interest in animation. In 2001, Atlantis: The Lost Empire made history for featuring the first black character in a Disney film with Dr. Sweet. It seems only fitting that Ron Husband, the first African American animator at Disney, would lead this character’s journey to the screen. Ron Husband was responsible for the final design and was the lead animator on the six-foot-six doctor on the Ulysses voyage to the lost city.
